Authentic Farmhouse
This 1890’s authentic farmhouse in the suburbs of Cincinnati is a great example of a thoughtful renovation driven by the client’s passion for the original character of the home. The initial phase of the project included a garage, laundry & mudroom addition, as well as a gut and remodel of the kitchen. The existing kitchen had great, natural light that we accentuated with a few additional windows to match the original style, and improve the views to the yard and ridge beyond. The wood floors were refinished and the kitchen was extended into the adjacent hearth room, where we kept the fireplace intact and added a gathering island and bar/tv area. Built-Ins were added to either side of the fireplace. The main kitchen was outfitted with new, inset cabinets with a beaded edge and a handmade tile backsplash in a subtle color with a marble accent tile over the range. The client wanted to keep the colors subtle and welcoming in keeping with the feel of the original home.
