70’s Modern
This 70’s Modern renovation has been a long-term labor of love. The original home received a large addition, including a great room and a first floor master bedroom and bath. The next phase consisted of a complete kitchen renovation. The kitchen layout was changed from a U-shape layout with separate dining area to one open space. Soffits were removed as well as the original oak cabinets, and new, clean-lined inset cabinets were installed and paired with grey-brown, walnut-stained, frameless cabinets. The asymmetrical design included the removal of a small window behind a wing wall that provided very little light, and a new linear window was cut into the exterior of the house to serve as a backsplash on one end of the kitchen. Calacatta quartz was used for the countertops and also wrapped behind the flush-mount cooktop as a backsplash surface. A custom dining table was built to match the cabinets and intersect the waterfall top at one end of the island to extend the kitchen area.
